The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was established out of the Patriotic ferver that existed during the latter part of the 1800's. Minisink Chapter was established in 1902 by a group of 13 women interested in continuing the principals of Education, Patriotism and Historic Preservation in our local area.
The Minisink Chapter has grown throughout the years. In the 1930's it purchased, at public auction, the one room stone schoolhouse on Rt 17A in Goshen and continues to preserve it. The goal is to maintain an example of the educational services that have been present in the area since the early 1700's. 
The Minisink Chapter has also marked a number of historic sites and graves of Revolutionary War soldiers and partiots of the area, and of the graves of DAR chapter members. This is a continuing project as there are a great many Revolutionary War soldiers graves who have not been identified or marked.
Each year the Minisink Chapter recognizes outstanding High School Seniors who have demonstrated the principals of a Good Citizen in their local High Schools and communities. Thirteen schools are contacted for participation in this process. An outstanding Jr. ROTC female is also recognized and presented with a pin and scholarship.
Each year on July 22, since 1902, the Minisink Chapter commemorates the Battle of Minisink at the monument in the center of Goshen. The Battle was fought in 1779 along the Delaware River and the men from Goshen, along with militia on the New York, New Jersey border were called to defend the settlers against the attack by the Indians under Chief Joseph Brant. This was one of the last local battles of the American Revolution. The commemortive services are held both at the battle site and at the Monument in Goshen.  
Minisink Chapter also helps support many patriotic and educational projects such as several secondary schools and colleges in the Appalacian area.
