Minisink Chapter

Each year the Minisink Chapter selects activites for the year. This coming year we plan on marking the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers of the local area. The Minisink Chapter is in the process of recording the soldiers from the area, finding and marking their graves. This form of recognition not only acknowledges their dedication to the principals of freedom and liberty, but also helps document their final resting place for posterity. There are many such graves where the stone is disintegrating or now nearly illegible, and this is our recognition and hope that the graves will not completely disappear, or be eliminated.
In the past we have placed markers in recognition of these soldiers and have also marked the graves of past Minisink Chapter members in recognition of their dedication. A year ago one of our members undertook the marking of all the Revolutionary War soldiers who had not previously been recognized in the Old Brick Church Cemetery, Montgomery, NY. Many graves had previously been marked by the Dutch Daughters, but there were 10 that had not been identified. Several Boy Scouts worked on this project with her and achieved their Eagle Scout badges with this work. A plaque was commissioned to commemorate these previously unrecognized men under the auspices of the Brick Church.
